We are pleased to announce a KT1 and KT2 Advanced course.

This course will focus on sports rehabilitation and will provide an invaluable platform for physiotherapists, sport therapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and occupational therapists experiences to learn about the latest techniques.

Course Overview

A two-day laboratory workshop with practical applications using Kinesio Tex, a hypoallergenic adhesive tape. Kinesio Taping works on the fascia, lymphatic and musculoskeletal systems.

Theory and taping techniques will be presented on muscle function for the upper and lower extremity, taping for common sport injuries, improving circulation of the blood/lymph.

This course includes basic Kinesio Taping as well as applications for the upper extremity, lower extremity and sports injuries.

Day 1 introduces the basic taping method
Day 2 introduces advanced Upper and lower extremity muscle tapings

Biography

Jennifer Illes


Jennifer Illes

Born and raised in Southern Ontario, Jennifer attended Brock University from 1999-2001, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduation, she then crossed the border and attended New York Chiropractic College. She was the class Salutatorian, a member of the Phi Chi Omega honors society for excellence in academic standings, and the recipient of the Clinical Award of Excellence. Jennifer is also a graduate of Hamilton's McMaster University Medical Acupuncture course, and has been invited in the new year to become an assistant professor for this course. She is a Certified Kinesio Taping Instructor, and certified in all levels of Active Release Techniques (ART®), and Activator Protocols.

She also teaches postgraduate courses in Functional Integrated TherapyTM along side world-renown sports chiropractor Dr. Mark Scappaticci, CKTI. Dr. Illes integrates a unique blend of contemporary techniques such as electro-acupuncture, soft tissue manipulation, joint manipulation and mobilization techniques.

KT1 FUNDAMENTALS OF Kinesio Taping® (Total hours: 8)

Introduction to Kinesio Taping® Concepts (2 hrs)
  • History of Kinesio Taping technique.
  • Introduction to Kinesio Taping® Concepts (2 hrs)
  • Benefits and limitations of Kinesio Taping.
  • Physical characteristics and qualities of Kinesio-Tex Tape.
  • Application of tape to learn proper 'feel' and how to remove tape from backing.
  • Examine difference between longitudinal and cross-wise stretching of the tape.
  • Stretch properties of Kinesio Tape.
  • Basic application techniques of how tape is cut and applied, preparation of body part to be taped and maintenance of tape once it is applied.
